Women and Children Welfare Support Association is an Association established in Tanzania by the Community members in 2017 with the intent of helping children, youth and women living in extreme poverty through cost effective health, development projects and educational programs, the aims to strengthening community spirit and giving children, youths and women better opportunities through knowledge, skills, confidence and community membership with participation.The association revolves around a training base scheme that educates women, selected by their community, on the skills needed for their own development. Our programme serves to provide the women and Youth with additional skills intended to further increase their earning potential, aiming at drawing from the local knowledge already rooted in these communities. Moreover, the programme unlocks the potential of women and Youth in creating sustainable livelihoods.
Our Objectives
- To provide education to Women and Youth on Sexual and Reproductive health, MHM as well as training them on Children and Food Nutrition’s.
- To Build the capacity of local communities through training committees to ensure further empowerment of Women empowerment within rural societies and the sustainability of all our projects.
- To raise awareness on the status of woman and girls, empower young people to lead community actions that promote equality and justice for all through text messages (SMS bundles).
- To enhance staffs capacities and knowledge through workshops, leadership trainings, seminars around gender theories, woman human rights principles and cross borders feminism solidarity.
- To build alliances with men and other networkers working for the promotion of woman empowerment and emancipation.
- To establish weekly online updates and advocacy around raising women and feminist issues in Tanzania and globe.
- To provide entrepreneurship education to members of community especially women and youth so as to minimize government job dependent number within our communities.
- To consult and provide education in environmental issues, like climate change issue, and to give prizes, for its encouragement.
- To enhance childhood protection and moral behavior.
- Working together with other national and international government or nongovernmental institution intending to bring communities development.
Women Health (Menstrual Health Education, Sexual Reproductive Health health)
Being aware, comfortable and knowledgeable about their body, starting a critical thought process around health related myths and social norms. Knowing basic hygiene practices and understanding reproductive health and contraception.
Digital literacy
Using a tablet, a smartphone or an LED TV to communicate and share content. Capturing and sharing digital audiovisual content. Having the opportunity to learn functional numeracy, literacy and language skills using digital applications.
Financial Inclusion
Making decisions about financial resources and acquiring basic numeracy skills. Knowing how to create a budget and understanding the importance of savings. Understanding the benefits of having a bank account.
Environmental Stewardship
Being aware of local and global environmental interconnections. Understanding their environment and create solutions such as soil regeneration, compost making, generation and storage of seeds, and water management.
Human Rights and Civil Society
Raising awareness of basic human rights and responsibilities related to education, health, governance, gender and economic development. Forming issue based self-help groups to address challenges and participate in civil society.
Livelihood Skills
Mastering practical skills to start an income generating activity such as sewing, or soap making. Livelihood activities are selected according to the interest of the women, the local people.
Children Health and Hygiene
In our hygiene program, we are teaching teachers and children, and parents about the various aspects of hygiene, such as washing hands, proper toilets use and waste management.The program aims to improve hygiene in schools, if children are less likely to be ill, they are more likely to complete their education. Also, when there are no separate toilets, most girls quit or miss schools when they are starting menstruating.
